Davis Named Semifinalist for Dick Howser Trophy
May 14, 2026 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville sophomore Tague Davis was named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy announced on Thursday by the Dick Howser Trophy Committee, in conjunction with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Davis was one of 48 players across 12 NCAA Division I conferences on the semifinalist list for the award presented to the top player in college baseball since 1987. Former Louisville standout Brendan McKay won the award in 2017.
The winner will be unveiled on MLB Network in a special national presentation at 9:30 a.m. (CDT) prior to the Friday, June 12, news conference in Omaha at 10 a.m. (CDT) in the Schwab Field Media Room before the first game of the historic 80th NCAA College World Series.
Davis is putting the finishing touches on a historic regular season in a Louisville uniform in 2026.
The sophomore enters the final regular season series as the national leader in home runs with 34 and RBIs with 93. Davis has already set the Louisville and ACC single-season home run records and is just three off the NCAA Division I record during the BBCOR era (since 2011). He also has eclipsed Louisville's single-season RBI record.
Davis has hit many of his homers against top competition and in big moments. The West Chester, Pa., native has 19 home runs in 27 ACC games and is tied for the national lead with 12 go-ahead homers.
Davis and the Cardinals wrap up the regular season with three games against Virginia, the first of which is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
