Senior Caroline Kimble and junior Inger Katrine Bjerke were voted team captains by their teammates
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- With the team's 2016 season set to begin tonight, the Louisville women's soccer team has its captains for the season in place. Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes announced today that senior Caroline Kimble and junior Inger Katrine Bjerke were voted team captains by their teammates.Â
"I am very grateful and humbled to be chosen as a captain along with KB for this amazing Louisville women's soccer team," said Kimble. "This team is full of so much potential and I am excited to attack this upcoming season as one of the captains."
Kimble saw action in 15 games last season, starting in seven. She scored the game-winning goal with eight seconds remaining in the first overtime period against top ranked North Carolina last season for the biggest win in school history.Â
Â
"It is such an honor to be named one of the two captains this year for this amazing group of young women," said Bjerke. We have all improved in so many areas this preseason and we can't wait to start competing and working toward our goals with our women's soccer family."
Bjerke has been a starter at centerback for the Cardinals the last two seasons. She helped the Cardinal defense register seven shutouts last year. Â
The Cardinals open up the 2016 season tonight at Indiana. The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
