University of Louisville volleyball stars Lola Arslanbekova of Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Lecia Brown of Wellington, Fla. have been named to the first team All-Northeast Region by the American Volleyball Coaches of America (AVCA). Arslanbekova was additionally named Freshman of the Year of the Northeast Region.

Named BIG EAST Tournament MVP, All BIG EAST Tournament team, BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All BIG EAST First team, Lola Arslanbekova had a match high 20 kills against Minnesota in the first round of the NCAAs. She tied a career high 25 kills against Cincinnati in the BIG EAST Championship. She had 24 kills against Pittsburgh on Oct. 4th. She had 21 kills against Notre Dame in the BIG EAST semifinal and led the Cardinals with 15 kills in the sweep of Syracuse in the BIG EAST. She had 16 digs against Notre Dame in the BE semifinal and has had 3 setting assists twice. Arslanbekova tallied up 4 service aces against IPFW on Sept. 5 and had 2 solo blocks against Illinois on Sept. 18. She was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Sept. 14th, Oct. 19th, and became the first three-time BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Nov. 2nd. She then one-upped that mark when she was named both Rookie and Player of the Week the week before the BIG EAST Tournament. Lola was the MVP of the Active Ankle Challenge at Ball State and was All-Tournament Team during the Cardinal Classic. She is second in the league in kills per game (4.26). Lola averages 4.78 points per set, fourth best in the league and she averaged 5.5 points per set in the BE Tournament.

Named to the All-BIG EAST First team and the All-BIG EAST Tournament team, Lecia Brown is the all time career leader in blocks for the University of Louisville. She had nine blocks against Notre Dame to tie a season-high. She totaled 13 kills against Tennessee on Sept. 30th and against Seton Hall on Oct. 17th. Her season high of digs, 9, came against Seton Hall. Lecia had 13 total blocks including against Jacksonville State on Nov. 28th to go along with her ten kills and .615 hitting percentage. The 12 block assists tied a school record for block assists in a match. She tied assistant coach Jennifer Hoffman's mark. She had 2 serving aces against Kentucky. Brown was on the All-Tournament team for the Sheraton Riverside/Puccini's Cardinal Classic. She leads the BIG EAST in hitting percentage at .408. She is fourth in blocks with 1.44 per set. Brown is leading the Cardinals with 1.83 blocks per set in the post season. She spent part of her summer representing her native Jamaica in the FIVB World Championship Qualifiers as a member of the Jamaica National Team as she holds dual citizenship.
