Volleyball Moves Up to No. 12; Rucker Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

The University of Louisville women's volleyball team has moved up one spot in the AVCA Coaches Poll to No. 12 in the nation. In other news, senior Gwen Rucker was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week after leading U of L to a sweep of Cincinnati on Sunday. She had 11 kills and 4 blocks to pace the Cards and hit a torrid .667. The No. 12 Louisville Cardinals (21-3, 10-1 BIG EAST) make their ninth straight appearance in the Top 25 with the release of the Oct. 29 poll. Louisville's win against Cincinnati on Oct. 28 gave the Cardinals a perfect record of 7-0 in away matches for the season. The Cardinals are now one of only three schools with an undefeated record on the road: Hawaii (7-0) and Marquette (7-0) round out the group. Louisville will host a match against Marquette on Nov. 9 in Cardinal Arena. Earlier this season Louisville defeated the Golden Eagles 3-1 on Oct. 21 in Milwaukee, Wis. Louisville has currently won nine of the past ten matches and is on a five-game winning streak. The only loss for the Cardinals in the stretch came to No. 7 Texas. This week in the AVCA Top 25 Poll, the Cards reached 796 total points compared to the 754 points received in the Oct. 22 poll. The Cards have a record of 12-3 in home matches this season and will play the final four games of the regular season in Louisville against Villanova on Nov. 2, Georgetown on Nov. 4, Marquette on Nov. 9, and Cincinnati on Nov. 11.
