The Louisville Cardinals will take on No. 10-ranked University of Kentucky on Aug. 29 at the KFC Yum! Center. The Battle of the Bluegrass will begin at 7:00 p.m., ET.
The Cardinals enter the match with a 2-1 overall record after defeating both Western Kentucky and Morehead State in the Active Ankle Challenge. The Cards opened the season with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 26-28, 25-12) win over Western Kentucky. U of L then went on to claim a 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-17, 25-16) victory over MSU. Louisville fell to No. 4 Penn State 0-3 (25-20, 25-17, 25-18) for the first loss of the year.
Caitlin Welch and Lola Arslanbekova were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Active Ankle Challenge.
The Wildcats will be coming to Louisville after going 3-0 to start the season and winning the Kentucky Classic. In their first match, UK beat North Carolina 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 25-14). Kentucky then had to come from behind in order to prevail 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 25-13, 15-10) against Lipscomb. The Wildcats then claimed the Kentucky Classic after a 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-19) win over Long Beach State.
UK's Lauren O'Conner was named MVP of the Kentucky Classic and was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Accompanying O'Conner on the All-Tournament team were Christine Hartmann and Alexandra Morgan.
Following the match against Kentucky, UofL will play host to Duke, Marshall, and Samford in the Cardinal Classic. The Cards will take on Duke on Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m., ET. U of L will then play on Sept. 1 at 11:00 a.m., ET against Marshall and at 7:30 p.m., ET against Samford.
