LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville athletics officials announced that season tickets for the 2012 volleyball season are now available with a variety of season ticket packages available that include all 15 home matches in the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals, who boast one of the nation's longest active NCAA appearance streaks and seven-straight league titles, anticipate another exciting season following 2011's BIG EAST regular-season title. Playing one of the country's toughest home slates, Louisville welcomes perennial powers Penn State, Texas, Duke, Miami (Fla.) and Kentucky to the Cardinals' downtown arena, and fans can see every serve for less than $6 a match.
Season ticket packages include Reserved Sideline Club seats at $80 each and guarantee ticket holders reserved lower level seats for every match. Youth season ticket packages begin at $25 each and are available in any lower level section. Fans also can purchase a Family Four-Pack that includes two adult and two youth reserved tickets in any available lower level section for $210, which is less than $4 per ticket. Season tickets are available by calling the Louisville Athletic Ticket Office at (502) 852-5151, online at UofLsports.com or in person at the Student Activities Center ticket office between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Louisville, which averaged more than 2,100 fans for six matches at the KFC Yum! Center a year ago, ranked 23rd nationally in home attendance in 2011. Head coach Anne Kordes credits U of L's strong home court advantage to the Cardinal faithful.
"Our passionate fans and storied volleyball tradition in this community makes Louisville an exceptional place to play and coach," said the Louisville-native and second year head coach. "We are proud to play for such a loyal fan base and cannot wait to fill the KFC Yum! Center with Cardinal Pride this fall. With a tough home schedule, we hope Card Nation will respond like they always have and help us break into the top-10 nationally in home attendance."
As a season ticket holder, fans receive several exclusive benefits throughout the year. Club seat holders are granted game day access to elite amenities at the KFC Yum! Center, including the arena clubs that feature two full bars and exclusive concession offerings available only to season ticket holders. In addition, ticket packages include an invitation to the season ticket holder appreciation reception with Kordes during the season's opening weekend, plus opportunities to win an autographed volleyball and official Adidas team apparel.
In addition, the Cardinals will play five matches at the on-campus facility, Cardinal Arena. Tickets to matches at the venue will be sold on an individual basis and are not included in the season ticket package price. Season ticket holders will receive purchase priority to all matches at Cardinal Arena allowing the ticket holder to choose which matches on-campus they wish to attend before tickets are released to the public. Season ticket holders received notification of Cardinal Arena matches in late June.
Single-match tickets will go on sale starting August 6. Prices remain the same - $8 for reserved adult, $5 for youth reserved (18 and under), and $2 for groups of 10 or more. U of L students are admitted free to all matches with a valid student ID.
Louisville is coming off its 13th consecutive NCAA appearance in 2011, the 10th longest active streak in the nation. The BIG EAST regular-season champions from a year ago return AVCA All-American outside hitter and league offensive player of the year Lola Arslanbekova as well as five starters from last season's 24-9 squad. The Cardinals are just one of 18 Division I schools with 20 or more NCAA Championship appearances.
The Cardinals open their 2012 campaign by hosting the Active Ankle Challenge on Aug. 24-25 at the KFC Yum! Center. All four teams - Western Kentucky, Morehead State and five-time national champion Penn State - in the weekend tournament were NCAA participants a year ago.
