HEAT SHEETS | LIVE STATS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville track and field program will play host to the fifth annual Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational on Friday, April 20, at Cardinal Park Track and Soccer Stadium.
Events at the throws field begin at 10:30 a.m. Field events inside the track commence at 1 p.m., and running events are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Live results will be available through www.UofLsports.com.
The last time out, the Cardinals competed at the Texas Roadhouse Border Battle on April 14. Louisville finished the meet with 12 event titles, and Ahlivia Spencer headlined group's successful day, breaking the four-year-old 800m school record set by Tarah McKay in 2008.
Spencer is one of six Cardinals set to compete in the 800m event at 4 p.m.
Jenna Wargo opens the day for the Cardinals, competing in the women's javelin at 11 a.m. She set the school record in the event earlier in the year and is currently ranked sixth nationally with a career-best 52.04m/170-9.
After the men's and women's hammer throw events, Charachesicia Lockhart will be one of two Cardinals participating in the long jump. Last week, she leapt to the 27th-best mark nationally, reaching 6.21m/20-4.50. Lockhart also is scheduled to take part in the triple jump, with teammate Malina Simmers.
At 1:15 p.m. at the throws field, Chinwe Okoro and Khadija Abdullah lead a group of four Cardinals in the women's discus. Okoro is fourth nationally in the discus, and Abdullah is listed at No. 10 nationally. Okoro and Abdullah each rank in the top 15 nationally in the shot put and will compete in the event at 2 p.m.
The women's high jump at 2 p.m. features Michelle Theophille, who ranks No. 17 nationally. Michael Edwards is set to compete in the men's high jump at 3:45 p.m. He is 22nd nationally after clearing 2.15m/7-0.50.
The running events open at 3 p.m., with the women's 4x100m followed by the men's 4x100m.
Louisville will send 11 student-athletes - five on the men's side and six on the women's side - to run in the 1,500m.
In the first individual sprinting event of the day, Gabrielle Jackson will take to the track for the women's 100m hurdles. On the men's side, Calvin Arsenault will race in the 110m hurdles. Arsenault also is slated to run in the 400m hurdles with Jordon Frazier, who won the event last week.
Emmanuel Matadi, who clocked the second-fastest 200m outdoor mark last week, will return to the track for the same event on Friday. Along with Marcellus Hobbs, the duo will compete at 4:30 p.m.
The day concludes with the women's and men's 4x400m relays.
