LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville track and field student-athletes Amashi Kendall and Michelle Theophille completed their indoor seasons at the NCAA Indoor Championships by earning second team All-America honors late Friday evening at Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho, on the campus of Boise State University.
Kendall, who won the BIG EAST indoor weight throw title, finished in 10th place at the national meet. Her best throw, 19.42m/63-8.75, came on her third attempt and was just three quarters of an inch short from qualifying her for the finals.
Theophille took 11th place in the women's high jump event after clearing 1.75m/5-8.75. She passed on the initial height of 1.70m/5-7, cleared 1.75m/5-8.75 on her first attempt, but then failed to jump over the bar at 1.78m/5-10.
Both student-athletes were making their first appearances at the national championships.
The Cardinals open their outdoor season on March 16 at the Bulls Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
