Women's Tennis Goes 6-2 in First Day of ITA Regionals

The University of Louisville women's tennis team went 6-2 on day 1 of the ITA Regional in Memphis with seniors Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine advancing to the quarter finals in doubles.

Seeded fifth in the Main Draw Doubles, Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine beat Maggie Leavell and Georgina Sellyn of Vandy 8-2 and then rolled to an 8-1 win over Kristel Sanders and Bethany Moore of Ball State to make the quarterfinals.

In singles, Fellerhoff advanced with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Krisztina Kapitany of Purdue and she will face Ball States Courtney Wild next.

Elle Stokes beat Ashlyn Rang of Ball State 6-4, 6-0, to advance and will meet Joanna Henderson of Tennessee.

Rebecca Shine won over EKU's Milena Poffo 6-2, 6-1 and will face Marta Morga from Memphis.

Cassie Pough fell to Edmee Morin Kougoucheff from Kentucky 6-3, 6-2.

Olivia Boesing and Cassie Pough fell to Vandy in the main draw, but beat a pair from Middle Tennessee 6-5 (2) in the back draw.
