The University of Louisville Women's tennis team, with an 11-9 overall record this season, earned the sixth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament and will take on the University of Pittsburgh at noon this Thursday in Tampa, Fla.

U of L completed the regular season with an 11-9 overall record and ended the campaign playing their best tennis of the year. On March 11, the Cards had fallen to 5-7 on the season with a tough road match at San Diego State on the horizon. The Cards showed their toughness by taking the match versus San Diego State 5-2, and that started U of L on a five match winning streak culminating with a 4-3 win over 74th ranked Marshall University. The win streak put the Cards record at 10-7 on the season, before dropping two out of three to end the season to tough Top 25 opponents in Tulsa and Notre Dame. The Cards will be looking to build off their late season resurgence in the BIG EAST Tournament this week.

The Cards will be taking on a Pittsburgh squad that has a 10-8 overall record and are coming off a 6-1 defeat at BIG EAST rival Rutgers this past weekend. The only common opponent on U of L and Pittsburgh's schedules is the University of Cincinnati who Pitt lost to on February 24 1-6. U of L is coming off a 6-1 victory over the Bearcats on April 14.

If U of L can top the Panthers, the Cards will advance to play the third seeded Syracuse Orange on Friday at noon.
