LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team will host Southern Illinois at noon on Saturday, March 29 in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The team will then head to Oxford, Ohio for a match-up with Miami on Sunday, March 30.
The Cards are coming off just their third loss this season. Louisville fell at conference foe, Memphis, last Friday by a final score of 2-5. Rebecca Shine (6-1, 6-3) and Becky Bodine (7-5, 3-6, 10-8) each won their singles match to give the Cardinals their two points. The doubles tandem of Julia Fellerhoff and Elle Stokes won their match (8-6), but the Tigers won the other two matches to grab the doubles point.
The Salukis bring a 10-4 record in to the match Saturday, after falling at in-state rival Illinois, 6-1. They had won 10 matches in a row prior to that. SIU's Gisela Cairo Baza was their lone point, she posted a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 victory in the No. 6 spot.
The Redhawks are 8-4, but will play two matches before Sunday's tilt with the Cards. Last Saturday, they took down Northern Illinois 6-1 at home. They got off to a quick lead by sweeping the doubles matches, and at No. 2, Christiana Raymond clinched the match for MU, 6-0, 6-2.
Louisville will be back in action on April 4 when they begin a three-match homestand against William & Mary at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
