In the final day of the Missouri Ace for the Cure Tournament, Jo-Ann Van Aerde fell in the top flight of singles to Jessica Giuggioli of Missouri.

"I am really happy for Joey (Van Aerde) and her efforts today," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "Even though she was edged out, she showed that she is one of the best players at the event by winning the top doubles and taking the top singles flight into three sets. I have been challenging Joey since I got here to reach her potential. I have been tough on her and now we are seeing results for her putting in all the hard work."

Van Aerde easily won the first set 6-1. Giuggioli battled back to take a 6-3 victory in the second set. The third and tie-breaking set went back and fourth as the players finished their third hour of play. At the end of the third set Van Aerde finally fell 1-6, 6-3, (7-5).

In the second flight of singles, Natalia Baez fell to Amy Allin of Illinois 6-3, 6-4 in the back draw.
