Women's Tennis Has Strong Day 1 at Ohio State's Muirfield Invitational

The University of Louisville women's tennis team combined for four singles wins and a doubles victories on Day 1 of the Ohio State Muirfield Collegiate Tennis Classic at the Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.

Top-seeded Julia Fellerhoff defeated Signe Lazdina of Alabama 6-1, 6-0 to advance.

No. 2 seed Rebecca Shine defeated Hannah Wille of Cincinnati 6-1, 6-2 and will also advance.

Alex Tachovsky defeated Carmen Rodriguez of EKU 6-2, 6-3 before falling 6-0, 6-3 to Kelsey Dieters of Ohio State.

Manuela Velasquez survived with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Saioa Oscoz of Eastern Kentucky.

In doubles, Tachovsky and Shine lost 8-1 to Nikki Chiricosta and Emily Reuland of Bowling Green State.

The No. 2 seeded pair of Velasquez and Fellerhoff beat Maddy Eccleston and Kristen Brozovich of Bowling Green State 8-1 to move on.
