Louisville native and Collegiate School graduate Kenny Hodge joins the Cardinal coaching staff as a volunteer coach. After competing for the University of Kentucky for four years, he transferred to the University of Louisville to finish a degree in biology. Showing early promise as a youngster, Hodge played No. 1 singles on the varsity team for Collegaite as as seventh grader. He won his first Kentucky State Creason Qualifier in singles at age 12. Later that year he won the Midwest Open Singles and the Southern Open Doubles titles. He won the Creason Singles Title two more times in the 14 and under age group. He began to play nationally and finished the year ranked 27th in the USA at age 14. At age 16, he won the Creason Singles Title again and added two more Creason Doubles Titles also winning the Southern Closed Doubles title. He was ranked No. 1 in the state of Kentucky for six straight years. As a junior, he was runner-up in the KHSAA State Tournament but did not play in it in his senior year.
He was recruited to play at the University of Kentucky and committed there in November of 2003. He redshirted his freshman year and in his second year, he played No. 3 doubles in SEC matches, going 5-6 in conference play partnered with Bruno Agostinelli. He was hurt during the offseason requiring surgery but rallied enough the next year to play No. 5 singles and No. 1 doubles in SEC play going 3-8 and 6-5 respectively. The injury eventually cut his collegiate career short and he decided to focus on his studies and transfer to UofL. Prior to joining the U of L staff, he has been teaching tennis at the Louisville Boat Club.
