Rachel Houck named Indianapolis Star Sportswoman of the Year

University of Louisville incoming freshman Rachel Houck was recently named Sportswoman of the Year by the Indianapolis Star.

Houck (Greenfield, Ind.) is a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, where she was a two-time all-state first team and Indianapolis Star Super Team selection and was a four-time All-Hoosier Heritage Conference pick. In addition to her softball accolades, Houck was a star on the basketball court, earning the 2013 Class 3A Mental Attitude Award and being named to the All-Hoosier Heritage Conference three times.

Houck will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2013.Louisville posted a 47-13 overall record after earning its tenth consecutive NCAA appearance and being selected the overall No. 15 seed for the second straight year. U of L finished the 2013 season at No. 19 in the USA Today/NFCA and No. 23 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate coaches polls.
