The University of Louisville softball team earned a fourth seed going into the 2001 Conference USA Softball Tournament.
The Cardinals (37-24, 12-9) will play fifth seeded Houston (22-31, 10-10) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 at Ulmer Stadium. In only their second year as a varsity program, U of L eclipsed last year's win total, while the Cougars are completing their inaugural season. The two teams faced each other in Houston in the opening weekend of conference plays. Louisville holds a 2-1 advantage in the series.
