Candy Herald is in her first season as a volunteer assistant at the University of Louisville. She returns to the program 10 years after graduating as one of the members of the inaugural team.

The former Candy Padilla was a starting outfielder from 2000-01 and is still ranked sixth on the school's list for career triples. Her name is also etched in the school's history book as she hit the first home run in Ulmer Stadium.

Prior to joining the 2011 staff, Herald was an assistant at Louisville Male High School from 2009-10. In 2008, she served as the head coach at Christian Academy of Louisville and was an assistant at Louisville's Ballard High School from 2006-07. Additionally, she and her husband Travis coached the 18U Bluegrass Blaze travel team in 2010.

Herald graduated from Louisville in 2001 with a Bachelor's degree in sociology. She and Travis have two children: son, Truman (2) and daughter, Eva (1). They are expecting their third child in February 2011.
