LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville women's soccer junior Charlyn Corral was named First Team All-Region (Northeast) by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America earlier this week.
Corral (Mexico City, Mexico/Tecnologico de Monterrey), the 2012 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a First Team All-BIG EAST selection, led the Cardinals with 23 points on eight goals and a team-high seven assists during her first season in Louisville. She started all 18 games for the Cardinals, who closed out their season with a 10-4-4 record overall.
An athletic forward with extensive international experience playing for the Mexican National team, Corral was a member of Team Mexico at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany seeing action in one match before joining the Cardinals. She was also a three-time member of Mexico's U20 World Cup squad (2006, 2008, 2010) scoring four goals in 10 matches.
