2011 Louisville Women's Soccer Game Notes in PDF Format

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With only three weeks left in the regular season, the Louisville women's soccer team will return to the road for a pair of key BIG EAST divisional games this weekend at Villanova and Georgetown.

Kickoff for the Cardinals and Wildcats is set for Friday at 3 p.m., ET at the Villanova Soccer Complex, while Sunday's game against the Hoyas is set for 1 p.m., ET at North Kehoe Field. Live scoring for both weekend games will be available through Gametracker at UofLSports.com.

Entering the weekend, Louisville (5-5-3 overall) is in second place in the National Division of the BIG EAST Conference with a 3-1-2 league record and 11 points overall. Georgetown leads the way in the division with 12 points, while Notre Dame is third with 10 points. Seton Hall is fourth with nine points, and Villanova is fifth with six points. The top five teams in each division qualify for the BIG EAST Championship. Most recently, Louisville earned a 2-1 overtime win at home against USF last Sunday after dropping a 1-0 decision to No. 10 Marquette on Friday.

Sophomore forward Christine Exeter (Pickering, Ont., Canada/Pickering HS) leads the Cardinals' offense with five goals, including a goal in four of her last five games. On the other side, senior goalkeeper Chloe Kiefer (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Divine Saviour HS) has four shutouts this season and had a career best nine saves against UConn on Sept. 23.

Villanova enters the weekend at 6-6-2 overall and 2-4-0 in BIG EAST games after a pair of home wins last weekend. The Wildcats opened the weekend with 3-1 victory over Pittsburgh on Friday before earning a 4-1 triumph against West Virginia on Sunday.

Friday's game will be the seventh all-time on the soccer pitch between Louisville and Villanova with the Wildcats holding a 4-2-0 lead in the series. In their last meeting, the Cardinals earned a 5-2 win on Oct. 8, 2010 in Louisville.

 

 

Georgetown, which will host Cincinnati on Friday night, enters the weekend at 10-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 in league games after splitting a pair of home games last week. The Hoyas lost 3-1 to West Virginia on Friday before earning a 6-0 win against Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Sunday's game will be the seventh all-time between U of L and Georgetown with the series tied at 3-3-0. In the last meeting between the two schools, the Hoyas earned a 3-1 victory on Oct. 10, 2010 at Cardinal Park.
