2006: Earned First Team All-Region and Second Team All-BIG EAST after leading the team in assists(7) and finishing second in goals(5) and points(17). The seven assists tied for the second best single season in Cardinal history. Her 17 career assists is just two off of the career record at U of L. Started all 20 matches for the Cards. Opened the Cardinal season, scoring the first goal on a PK in win over Ohio (8/25). Tied the Kentucky match(9/3), sending the match into OT, with the Cards eventually topping the Cats. Assisted on the game winner and scored a goal of her own in win over Xavier (9/10). Set up Avila's game winner on national TV against UC (9/13), and Boling's deciding tally against WKU (9/17). Logged a goal and two assists in 3-0 win over DePaul (9/26). Sent Craft in for the game winner against Georgetown (10/8). Went 2-for-2 on kicks in the final two matches of the season. Named to the AD Honor Roll, Dean's List, and was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
2005: Gjini was second on the team in goals(7) and points (19), pacing the squad with five assists and starting all 19 matches. Named to the All-BIG EAST third team and Third Team All-Region. Scored twice, including the game winner against Miami (8/28). Assisted on Heather Engel's game winner at Murray (9/7) and Shannon Smyth's deciding goal against WKU (9/11), adding a goal of her own. Exploded for a school record eight points in 5-1 win over Seton Hall, logging her first career hat trick and adding two assists. Made the AD Honor Roll and the Dean's List.
2004: Burst on to the scene as a freshman, ranking third on the team in goals (7) and points (19), while tying for the team lead in assists with five. Paced the conference with 76 shots, the fourth-highest total in school history and was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team, as well as making the Soccer Buzz Great Lakes Region All-Freshman team. Played in every game, starting all but one. Picked up a goal and an assist in just her second collegiate game, a win at Ohio (9/2). Opened up the 7-0 win against Evansville with a pair of goals(9/10). Had a goal and an assist in win at Murray (9/14). Her goal stood up in a 1-0 win over Marquette (10/10). Picked up a goal and an assist against TCU (10/30). Academically, made the AD Honor Roll, Dean's List, C-USA Commissioner's List and was a Red and Black Scholar.
High School: Member of the Canadian National Team program since 2001, playing on the U16-U19 teams. Developed in Alberta's Provincial team program, beginning in 2000 on U-14 squad. Her U-17 Provincial Team won the National Championship.
Personal: Born on 5/30/86 to Annette and Mark Gjini in Edmonton, Alberta. Major is physical education at UofL. Her biggest thrill sports was winning the Nationals in summer of 2003 in Edmonton, beating Ontario in penalty shoot out 3-2 after double overtime. Her dad is her greatest athletic influence. Likes snowboarding, water sports, skating and reading in her spare time. Shrek and John-Q are her favorite movies. Simpsons and Friends are her favorite TV shows. Likes to eat ribs. Her favorite athlete is Roberto Carlos. Her dream dinner guests would be her brother Dion and her grandma; "Because I miss them." If she could be anyone for a day, she would be soccer star Renaldo.
