Louisville's Novice Eight Selected as American Boat of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 17 Louisville rowing team earned the final American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honor for 2014 as the Cardinals' novice eight crew was chosen for the award on Wednesday.

The Louisville crew was comprised of coxswain Tiffany Chea, Gabi Biedenharn, Hannah Ruegsegger, Madeleine Chesney, Mary Waldman, Nicole DiTommaso, Meredith Price, Lauren DiTommaso, and Josie Stoner. In an event hosted by the University of Michigan on May 3, the Cardinals capped the day with a victory over then-No. 3 Ohio State. Louisville's crew finished the race in 8:22.07, edging the Buckeyes by 0.77 seconds.

It marked the fourth time this season Louisville has earned the weekly conference honor with the second varsity eight boat winning the first three.

Up next, the 17th-ranked Cardinals will compete at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday in West Windsor, N.J. An automatic berth in the 2014 NCAA Championship will be on the line for the winning team at the event.
