LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville women's rowing team will return to action this weekend with races on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind., and Sunday in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
On Saturday, the Cardinals will have their varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity crews competing against crews from Notre Dame, Syracuse, Iowa, West Virginia and Rutgers on Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indy. Heat races are scheduled for Saturday morning with the finals set for the afternoon.
On Sunday, Louisville will compete against Georgetown at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge. The Cardinals' varsity eight, second varsity and varsity crews will conduct morning races against the Hoyas.
Louisville rowing head coach Laura Aubrey on the weekend of racing:
"We are looking forward to a very big weekend of racing for us. On Saturday in Indianapolis, we will line up against five strong crews. We will then bus to Oak Ridge, where we will take on Georgetown. We look forward to the competitive racing this weekend has to offer us and the opportunity to get down the course multiple times."
"Not only is this a big weekend of competition, but we are packing in a fair amount of travel as well as we go from Indianapolis to Oak Ridge. I'm looking for the team to really dig deep as I expect them to sustain a high level of competitiveness on both days despite the required travel. We have been anticipating and looking forward to a tough weekend of racing and I know the team is up for the challenge."
"The team has really pushed hard the last few weeks, not only on the water, but in the classroom as they finish up with their final exams and projects for the semester. This is always a big time of the year for us both in training and in school and I'm proud of the focus and intensity the team has maintained."
