Louisville Rowing's V8+ Named BIG EAST Boat of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville rowing team's varsity eight boat earned a sweep of No. 11 Wisconsin and Minnesota on Lake Macbride in Solon, Iowa, to earn BIG EAST Boat of the Week honors. It marks the second straight week the Cardinals have earned the league's weekly honor after the second varsity eight crew accomplished the feat on April 7.

The Louisville varsity eight crew of senior coxswain Ashley Edwardson, junior stroke Lauren Mensch, freshman Erin Bennett, junior Sarah Fiske, junior Kristin Falovo, senior Katie Rorer, junior Sam Kayser, junior Anastasia Prokopenko and senior Samantha Seldon finished the 1,500-meter course in a time of 7:16.9 to defeat the Badgers by more than seconds in the morning race. The Cardinals completed their second challenge of the day against Minnesota with a time of 7:03.2; a full six seconds ahead of the Golden Gophers.

Up next, the Louisville rowing team will travel to Gold River, Calif., for the Lake Natoma Invitational on April 17-18.
