LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville rowing coaching staff would like to congratulate the 20 Cardinal rowers who were invited to this year's Red & Black Banquet on March 1. To receive an invitation, a student-athlete must achieve a GPA of at least 3.25.

"The number of our athletes who have been honored this past semester with academic accolades is just a testament to the type of students we have on this team and in this athletic department," said Cards' assistant coach Odette Mitchell-Servilio. "Not only do they demonstrate exceptional abilities in their sport, but these women continue to exceed expectations in the classroom. And to have this many athletes on our roster with a perfect 4.0 is an extraordinary feat accomplished by these ladies."

The Louisville rowers invited to the Red & Black Banquet include seniors Anna Ardiel, Laura Cers, Lisa Grace, Mallory Hamman, Allison Pelette and Liz Van Zeyl, juniors Ashley Edwardson, Katie Rorer, Katie Scordo, Samantha Seldon and Kelly Traynor, sophomores Brittany Hall, Sam Kayser, Kira Lawson, Lauren Mensch, Anastasia Prokopenko, Kristen Soden and Anna Traughber, and freshmen Abbey Holderman and Caroline Sawyer.

The Cards also had seven athletes earn a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester led by Cers, Grace, Hall, Seldon, sophomores Allison Siu and Meagan Smith and Soden.

The Cards will open the spring season with a training trip to Oak Ridge, Tenn., on March 14-20, which will include races against Duke and Buffalo on March 15.
