Louisville's second varsity eight boat qualified for the C final after a runner-up finish in Saturday morning's semifinals.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - All three boats for the 18th-ranked Louisville rowing team advanced through Saturday morning's semifinals at the NCAA Championship and will close the weekend in the C finals on Sunday at Eagle Creek Park.
Louisville's varsity four crew of Chiara Ponko (coxswain), Paula Gollnick, Kylie Noltemeyer, Kara Savegnago and Maddy Staubitz raced to a runner-up finish in its C/D semifinal with a time of 7:58.234 trailing only UCLA. The Cardinals will compete in the Sunday's varsity four C final at 8:40 a.m., ET.
The Cardinals' second varsity eight crew of Sophie St. Martin (coxswain), Abbie Wade, Amy Van Syoc, Lizzie DeVries, Cynthia Doyle, Kylen Pattermann, Hanna Spittel, Marissa Thalen and Katie Nord rowed to a second-place finish in its C/D semifinal with a time of 7:02.849, while Indiana led the way with a time of 6:57.516. Louisville will close the weekend in the second varsity eight competition with Sunday's C final at 9 a.m.
Louisville's varsity eight boat with Andrea Zorn (coxswain), Elise Valantine, Lucy Wilshier, Morgan Dunham, Hannah Ritter, Darya Marchanka, Amanda Zalno, Jami Montesano and Sam Sinnett earned a third-place finish in its C/D semifinal with a time of 6:46.491, while UCLA paced the way. The Cardinals will close their weekend at the NCAA Championship in the C final on Sunday at 9:20 a.m.
