Rowing Sweeps Kansas State on Day Two at Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Louisville rowing team continued the three-day Longhorn Invitational on Saturday with a morning sweep of Kansas State.

The Cardinals' varsity eight crew closed a strong morning of racing with a time of 7 minutes, 42.6 seconds to finish more than nine seconds clear of the Wildcats, who came in with a time of 7:51.9. Louisville's second varsity eight boat finished with a time of 7:45.7, while Kansas State trailed at 8:02.5.

U of L's varsity four crew had the largest margin of victory during the morning after finishing with a time of 8:45.2 to finish more than 31 seconds ahead of Kansas State's 9:17.0. The Cardinals opened their morning racing with the novice eight crew finishing with a time of 7:59.4, while the Wildcats finished at 8:05.2.

In Saturday's afternoon session, the Cardinals lost four races to Oklahoma, including two narrow defeats. Louisville's varsity eight crew finished with a time of 7:18.3, less than 2 seconds behind the Sooners' time of 7:16.5. U of L's novice eight boat had a time of 8:24.1, while OU was in with a time of 8:21.1. The Cardinals' second varsity eight boat finished in a time of 8:03.2 as the Sooners led the way at 7:48.8, while Louisville's varsity four crew had a time of 9:06.0 to trail Oklahoma at 8:53.0.

Louisville will conclude the Longhorn Invitational on Sunday morning with races against Wisconsin. Following Sunday's action, the Cardinals will next compete against Dartmouth and Tennessee on March 26 in Knoxville, Tenn.
