2011-12: Spent the season in the varsity four boat as well as the second varsity eight boat ... While in the varsity four boat, she contributed to second-place finishes against Duke, Virginia, Jacksonville and Michigan ... In the second varsity eight boat, she helped the crew earn a first-place finish over Georgetown ... Crew finished third at the BIG EAST Championship.
Prior to UofL: Went to Williamsburg High School ... Was the 2010 Midwest Champion in 4x, Gold in 1x at Dogwood Regatta in 2011, three-time national qualifier from 2009-2011, won bronze in women's 2 - at Midwest Championship ... Also was a team captain in 2010-2011 ... Won the Speakmon Regatta in 2009 and 2010 in the 1x and 2x ... Her 4x team was ranked 15th nationally in 2009 and ranked 18th nationally in 2010
Personal: Born on June 14, 1993, in Anderson, Ohio ... Daughter of Bill and Kate Melton ... Has two brothers Ryan and Drew ... Post-college ambition is to coach high school rowing, sail off the coast of Greece and live on a boat ... Hobbies and outside interests include running, eating, sailing and camping ... Says she chose the University of Louisville because of the opportunities it offered in both athletics and academics ... Says the best thing about the city of Louisville is the way the entire city rallies around U of L sports teams and shows their support and the skyline ... Says the best thing about U of L rowing is Derek Copeland and the way everyone supports one another... After graduation, she plans to work with college athletics on nutrition and dietary plans...
