Introducing Women's Lacrosse's Lauren Morando

Dec. 17, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Making the decision to come to the University of Louisville wasn't a difficult one for Lauren Morando, one of the top lacrosse players in south Florida.

The Parkland, Fla., native earned U.S. Lacrosse High School All-America honors in 2013, collecting first-team honors in the South Florida chapter. Morando, one of four All-Americans in the Cardinals' signing class, has played her prep career at St. Thomas High under coach Sarah Paulus.

In 2013, Morando also was named first team all-league, all-district, and all-region. Her remarkable year continued, when she was named to the 2013 South Florida National Team.

"An All-American defender out of Florida, Lauren is fast and feisty and plays an aggressive style of defense that will fit well with our structure," head coach Kellie Young says. "She is incredibly determined and attacks everything she does with intensity."

In addition to playing lacrosse for her school, Morando also plays on the club circuit for Lax Maniax.

"I think what attracted me most to Louisville is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere," Morando said, "along with the countless outstanding things Louisville has to offer."

One of two children, she is the daughter of Robert and Nancy Morando.
