LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville's Nikki Boltja's performance against No. 13 Ohio State is taking notice.
On Monday, the University of Louisville women's lacrosse junior was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and also was tabbed the WomensLax.com Player of the Week after totaling four goals, an assist, a ground ball and a caused turnover in the 12-11 upset victory over the Buckeyes. The win marked Louisville's fourth over a ranked opponent in program history and is tied for the largest upset in school history after Louisville knocked off 13th-ranked Vanderbilt in 2011.
Facing her hometown team, the Medina, Ohio, native scored the opening goal less than three minutes into the contest and then scored the final two goals of the game: the game-tying and game-winning scores within two minutes of each other.
Boltja has won the conference honor one time previously, receiving it last year after scoring 12 goals in a two-game stretch.
Louisville returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, against Old Dominion to conclude a three-game home stand. First draw at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
