Knoxville, Tenn. - The Cardinals will begin play at the Fox Den Country Club this weekend for the 13th annual Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships. The 54-hole tournament starts Friday, Oct. 16 at 9 a.m. with teams teeing off from the first and 10th holes and will continue under the same format for the second and third rounds on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament features eight other teams the Golfstat Top 25 as well as six other 2009 NCAA Championships participants.
Juniors Sara-Maude Juneau and Laura Anderson will lead the Cardinals playing the top spots. Juneau will play in the No. 1 spot after winning her second collegiate tournament at the Tar Heel Invitational last week. Anderson will play the No. 2 spot. She also won her first collegiate tournament in the Cards' first tournament at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic.
Senior Daphne Parker will play in the third spot for the Cardinals and redshirt freshman Anna-Karin Ljungstrom will play the fourth spot for the Cards. Freshman Candice Wiley will play the fifth spot for Louisville.
