Four Cardinals Earn NGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team Honors

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville women's golf players Emily Haas, Sara Karlsson, Anna Karin Ljungstrom, and Katie Petrino were selected to the National Golf Coaches Association 2011-12 All-American Scholar Golf Teams.

The NGCA selected a total of 585 women's collegiate golfers spanning from Divisions I, II and III that meet the strict academic qualifications, including a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50.

Haas, a biology major, led the team in scoring last season with a 75.6 scoring average. She finished the season with two Top 10 finishes and one Top 20. She shot a low round of 69 in the first round of the Las Vegas Showdown where she finished tied for 31st.

Karlsson, a mathematics major, competed in eight tournaments for the Cardinals as a redshirt freshman. She finished the year with a 78.3 stroke average. She shot a low round of 72 in the Prarmigan Ram Classic. Her best finish was tied for 31st in the UNLV Spring Rebel Invite.

Ljungstrom, a psychology major, finished her senior year ranked second on the team with a 74.5 stroke average. She finished her final season with one Top 10 finish. She finished tied for second in the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup.

Petrino, a marketing major, finished her redshirt freshman season ranked third on the team with a 76.8 stroke average. She finished the year with two Top 10 finishes. Her best finish was a fourth place finish in the BIG EAST Championship where she finished with a score of 225.
