Women's Golf Earns 13th Seed in the NCAA East Regional

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's golf team earned an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Regional Championship to be held in Tallahassee, Fla., May 8-10 at the SouthWood Golf Club. The Cardinals earned the No. 13 seed in the East Region. The bid is the seventh appearance for the Cardinals since the program was started in 2000.

Louisville finished won the American Athletic Conference Championship last Tuesday in Palm Coast, Fla. The Cardinals have finished in the Top 10 in all 11 tournaments this season. Louisville finished in the Top Five of six tournaments this season, including a wins at the IU Kickoff, the Cardinal Cup and the Clover Cup.

Sophomore Laura Restrepo the Cardinals with an impressive 72.68 stroke average. Restrepo is currently ranked 63rd in the nation by Golfstat. Junior Emily Haas ranks second on the team in stroke average with a 73.14 average. Haas is currently ranked 94th by Golfstat. Junior Katie Petrino gives Louisville three players ranked in the top 150 of the Golfstat rankings. Petrino ranks third on the team with a 73.71 average, ranking her at 142nd.

The Cardinals will begin NCAA Tournament play on May 8 at the SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.
