The Louisville women's golf team shot a 317 in the first round of the Bryan National Collegiate on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals are currently in 17th place. Northwestern leads the field after shooting a 290 in the first round. South Carolina is in second place after shooting a 292 and Tennessee is third with a score of 293.
Junior Candice Wiley lead the Cardinals after carding a 78 in the first round. Wiley made the turn at three over and finished the back nine at three over as well. She is currently tied for 52nd after the first day. South Carolina's Katie Burnett leads the field after shooting a 70 in the first round. She holds a one stroke lead over six players that are tied for second place.
Freshman Emily Haas shot a 79 in the first round and finished the day tied at 63rd. Haas finished the front nine at two over but struggled on the back nine with five bogeys to finish five over. Freshman Katie Petrino also shot a 79 on the day to also finish tied at 63rd. Petrino made the turn at three over par but finished the back nine at four over.
Freshman Sara Karlsson shot an 81 in the first round and finished the day tied at tied at 85th. Karlsson struggled on the front nine, making the turn at seven over. She shot two birdies to finish two over par on the back nine. Senior Maria Castellanos carded an 85 in the first round to finish 91st on the day. Castellanos made the turn at six over par and then finished the back nine at seven over.
The Cardinals will continue play with 18-holes on Saturday. They will tee off the 10th hole starting at 8:20 a.m.
