The Louisville women's golf team shot a 299 in the first round of the UCF Challenge on Sunday afternoon to open up the spring season. The Cardinals are currently tied for 13th with College of Charleston. South Carolina leads the field after one round with a score of 284. Host UCF and ninth ranked North Carolina are tied for second with a score 287.
Sophomore Katie Petrino led the Cardinals, shooting a 73 in the first round. Petrino is currently tied for 28th. Augusta State's Casey Kennedy and Natalie Wille lead the field after carding a 67 in the opening round.
Sophomore Emily Haas and junior Tara Lyons shot a 75 in the opening round. They are currently tied at 49th. Freshman Meghan Theiss shot a 76 in the first round. Theiss finished the day tied at 59th. Freshman Laura Restrepo finished the day carding a 77. She is currently tied at 71st.
The Cardinals continue action on Monday, Feb. 11 with a 9:24 a.m. tee time.
