No. 23 Field Hockey Hosts Davidson and Ball State This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The No 23 University of Louisville field hockey team will play host to Davidson and Ball State this weekend. The Cards will face Davidson Saturday at 2 p.m. and will take on Ball State Monday at 2 p.m. at Trager Stadium. Admission is free.

Last up for the Cardinals
Last weekend, Louisville (1-1) opened the season with a 3-2 loss to No. 21 Northeastern, but rebounded for a 3-1 win over Miami (Ohio). Senior Haley Jurich leads the team with two goals and four points while sophomore Paige Monsen has dished out a pair of assists. Senior goalkeeper Erin Conrad registered six saves in the first two games of the season.

Up Next
Following this weekend's action, the Cards will hit the road for their next four games starting with a trip to Bloomington , Ind., to face the host Hoosiers on Sept. 7 and Ohio University on Sept. 8. The following weekend, U of L will travel to East Lansing, Mich. , where they will play Central Michigan and either American or Michigan State.

Series Record: Davidson leads 7-1
Last Meeting: Sept. 3, 2011- Hayley Turner scores a pair of goals to help the Cards defeat host Davidson 5-3. The Davidson field hockey team is seeking a big win in their home opener as they take on No. 16 Louisville. Davidson is undefeated against Louisville after going 7-0-2 against the Cardinals from 1990 until their last meeting in 1998.
Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson (1-1) fell 5-1 to William & Mary in its season opener, but regrouped for a 4-0 win over BIG EAST Conference member Georgetown. The Wildcats are led offensively by Anna Davis who has scored two goals.

Ball State
Sept. 3, 2012- Trager Stadium, 2 p.m. Series Record: Ball State leads 15-10
Last Meeting: Aug. 31, 2007- Lauren Schaefer broke through the scoreless tie when connected on a feed from Nicole Youman in the fourth minute of the second half. The Ball State field hockey team played even with the 14th-ranked team in the nation through 35 minutes, but a lack of scoring opportunities cost the Cardinals in their home-opener.
Scouting the Cardinals: Ball State (1-1) opened the season with a 5-1 loss to Lafayette and defeated Lehigh 4-3 in overtime. The Cardinals are led offensively by Tori Widrick's four goals and eight points. Bianca Velez has dished out two assists.
