SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The No 25 University of Louisville field hockey team fell 3-0 to top-ranked host Syracuse (10-0, 3-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Louisville falls to 7-4 (1-1 BIG EAST).

"We had an opportunity to play a game against the number one team in the country and there were passages where we played up to the level of where we want to be," said U of L head coach Justine Sowry. "We tried some new things, some of which worked and some which need more work. The moments when we attacked and treated them like any other team, we were rewarded. We must believe and realize that it is possible. This game is another step in the right direction."

Lauren Brooks gave Syracuse an early lead, when she connected on a rebound just 6:22 into the game. Stephanie Hussey made the score 2-0 with 2:24 left in the half. The Orange took the 2-0 lead into halftime after outshooting the Cards 11-3 and holding a 3-2 edge in corners.

The second half brought some scoring opportunities for both teams, but Syracuse goalkeeper Leann Stiver posted three saves and Louisville's Erin Conrad picked up five second half saves.
