LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The No. 23 University of Louisville field hockey team fell 3-2 to No. 21 Northeastern in both teams' home opener Friday at Trager Stadium in the Sherrill Brakmeier Classic.

Following the game a ceremony was held to unveil the newly named Sherrill Brakmeier Locker Room as the team, fans and alums gathered to celebrate Mrs. Brakmeier's 90th birthday.

Sophomore Paige Monsen had two assists and the Cards enjoy a brief 2-1 lead in the first half, but could not hang on as Northeastern scored late in the first half to tie the game and added another goal in the second half.

The teams played through 19 scoreless minutes before the Huskies broke through with a penalty corner goal by Lindsay Bennett at the 19:47 mark. The Cards quickly responded three minutes later when senior Haley Jurich connected on a pass from Monsen to tie the score at 1-1.

The Huskies were awarded a penalty corner with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game and Crystal Poland tied the score with four seconds left in the half. In the first half, Northeastern held a 6-4 edge in shots and a 5-2 corner advantage.

The game-winner came midway through the second half when Deirdre Duke sent a shot into the upper left side of the cage for the 3-2 final.
