Senior forward Angel McCoughtry grabs the first BIG EAST Player of the Week honor on Monday, Nov. 24. The weekly honors encompass games during the first week of the season, and will run through March 2, the last
week of BIG EAST regular season play.
McCoughtry became Louisville's all-time leading scorer when she scored
her 22nd point in the season-opener against Tennessee Tech on Nov. 15.
McCoughtry finished the game with 29 points and 13 rebounds for her 41st
career double-double. Against Austin Peay on Nov. 17, the senior forward
played just 15 minutes and finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Against No. 22/23 Xavier McCoughtry recorded 16 points, 11 rebounds and five steals on Nov. 22. For the week, McCoughtry averaged a double-double with 20 points and 10.3 rebounds. She also shot 44.7 percent from the field (21-of-47) and averaged 2.7 assists and 4.3 steals.
The Cardinals also moved up two spot in the Associated Press poll on Monday. The Cardinals moved up to No. 7 earning their highest ranking in school history.
