Louisville, Ky. - The eighth-ranked University of Louisville women's basketball team will play travel to Austin Peay for the first road game of the season on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 8:00 p.m. Louisville is 2-0 on the year after winning two straight games at home while the Lady Govs enter the game with a 0-1 record, dropping its season opener at UAB on Friday.
Louisville enters the week ranked eighth in both polls this week after defeating No. 12/15 Texas A&M and Portland last week. Sara Hammond leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 13.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Shoni Schimmel is second on the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game. Schimmel also leads the team in assists with 4.0 per game.
Austin Peay was picked to finish fifth in the West Division of the preseason Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball poll, as selected by the league's head basketball coaches and sports information directors. The Lady Govs return four starters and eight letterwinners from last season. The Lady Govs are led by senior guards Meghan Bussabarger and Leslie Martinez. Bussabarger leads the team with 16.0 points per game while Martiniez is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game.
