About Louisville
The Cardinals posted a 23-10 record last season and made their sixth NCAA tournament in the last seven years. Led by preseason All-BIG EAST selection and junior Shoni Schimmel, the Cardinals return four starters overall from last year's squad including Bria Smith, Sara Hammond and Shawnta' Dyer. As a sophomore, Schimmel was named to the preseason "Wade Watch" list and earned First Team WBCA Region I honors after leading the Cardinals with 14.3 points, 4.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game. She also ranked third on the team in rebounding with 4.5 boards per game. Schimmel was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection and finished league play ranked 11th in scoring, sixth in assists and fourth in steals.

Senior Monique Reid, a preseason All-BIG EAST honorable mention selection, saw action in eight games last season and averaged 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game before suffering a season-ending injury. She has led the Cardinals in rebounding in each of the last two seasons and was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection in 2010-11.

Louisville was picked to finish third in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll and is one of five BIG EAST teams ranked in the top 25 - along with Connecticut (2), Notre Dame (7), St. John's (14), and DePaul (25).
