Women's Basketball Ranked No. 9 in Associated Press Preseason Poll

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville women's basketball team earned its highest preseason ranking at No. 9 in the Associated Press poll released on Saturday. The Cardinals started the 2008-09 season ranked at No. 10 in the Associated Press preseason poll.

The Cardinals return four starters from last season's team that finished with a 23-10 record last season and made its sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last seven years. The Cardinals are one of five BIG EAST teams ranked along with Connecticut (2), Notre Dame (7), St. John's (14), and DePaul (25).

Louisville will host Eckerd College on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center for the lone exhibition game of the season. Admission to the game is free. The Cards will tipoff the regular season on Friday, Nov. 9 against No. 15 Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m.

Season tickets are now on sale. To purchase tickets call the UofL athletic ticket office at (502) 852-5151. The Cardinals will also host the first and second rounds of the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament in the KFC Yum! Center. Tickets are currently on sale.
