Deseree' Byrd Will Not Return For the 2010-11 Season

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville point guard Deseree' Byrd will not return to the University of Louisville for the 2010-11 season due to personal reasons. "We wish Des the best during this time," said head coach Jeff Walz. "We hope that she will be able to return to the University of Louisville in the future. She was an integral part of our Final Four team and her presence on the court will be missed." Byrd suffered a torn ACL last fall and saw action in six games last season before undergoing surgery. She averaged 8.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in those six games. As a sophomore Byrd started every game for the Cardinals at point guard. She finished her sophomore season averaging 7.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
