LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Lady Cards put in a strong second half performance to defeat The Family 94-65 in Freedom Hall Tuesday night.

The Lady Cards trailed by 10 early in the first half. Freshman and Louisville native, Shanta Bowens came off the bench to give the Lady Cards a spark. Bowens connected on six straight points to bring Louisville within five. Two layups off a fast break and a three-point shot from Jill Morton tied the game at 30 with four minutes left to play in the first half. The Lady Cards went into the locker room with a 44-40 lead.

Louisville went on a 15-2 run to start the second half and the Family could get no closer.

"I thought that we would start off like we did," said co-head coach Martin Clapp. "I thought we were ready to play but we came out a little anxious. I was very pleased not only with our veterans but after we settled down our freshmen did a very good job for us.

"We've got a ways to go and we knew our defense would need some improvement. Overall I was pleased with the way Jenny and Jill pulled everyone together when we went on the 15-2 run. Now we can break down the film and get ready for the next exhibition on Nov. 11."

Louisville was led in scoring by senior All-America Candidate Jill Morton with 18 points. The Family was led in scoring by Kizzie Dawson with 19 points. Former Lady Card Sharon Bellamy added 10 points.
