LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 2009 WNBA All-Star game is a month away and fans are encouraged to vote daily for their favorite players, including former University of Louisville All-American Angel McCoughtry now of the Atlanta Dream, at WNBA.com.
McCoughtry, the first overall selection in the 2009 WNBA Draft by Atlanta, is averaging 11.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.43 steals per game through seven contests. She poured in a season-high 26 points and dished out eight assists against the Chicago Sky in a 99-98 overtime loss on Tuesday night. McCoughtry ranks no. 1 in free throws and free throw attempts per 40 minutes, no. 5 in steals per 40 minutes and no. 6 in points per 40 minutes.
Atlanta is 3-4 in the Eastern Conference standings heading into Friday night's game at home against the defending WNBA champion Detroit Shock.
The 2009 WNBA All-Star game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sat., July 25 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and will be televised nationally by ABC.
