Louisville, Ky. - The No. 7-seeded Cardinals will face 10th-seed Vanderbilt Commodores (20-11, 10-6 SEC) in the first round of NCAA Tournament in the Spokane Region on Sunday, March 20 at 12:10 p.m. ET in a game televised on ESPN2. The games will be played at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Louisville (20-12, 10-6 in the BIG EAST Conference) is making its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth appearance in the last six years. U of L enters the tournament having won six of its last nine games, falling 63-53 to No. 7 Notre Dame in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship. The Cardinals have reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in two of the past three seasons. U of L made its first NCAA Final Four appearance in 2009, falling to UConn 76-54 in the title game.
Junior forward Monique Reid leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 15.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Freshman point guard Shoni Schimmel is second on the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game while leading the team in assists with 5.1 per game.
