For the third straight year Louisville senior Angel McCoughtry finished atop the BIG EAST statistics in scoring, rebounding and steals. McCoughtry is the first player in BIG EAST history to lead the conference stats in scoring, rebounding and steals three straight seasons.
The senior finished her final year in the BIG EAST averaging 26.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.8 steals per game. The senior has also led the nation in steals all year long. She finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 steals in her regular season finale at Marquette.
The Cardinals finished second in the BIG EAST standings, marking their highest finish in the league since joining three years ago. Led by McCoughtry, the Cardinals registered their most BIG EAST wins with 14 and tied the school record for most wins in a season with an overall record of 27-3.
Louisville earned a double bye in the BIG EAST Tournament which begins March 6-10 in Hartford, Conn. The Cardinals will begin BIG EAST Tournament action on Sunday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m. with the opponent to be determined. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
