The University of Louisville women's basketball team will host top-ranked Connecticut on Sunday, Feb. 7 in Freedom Hall at noon. The game will be televised live on ESPNU with Beth Mowins and Brooke Weisbrod calling the game.
Louisville enters the game with an 11-11 overall record and a 3-6 record in the BIG EAST. The Cardinals are coming off a 74-68 overtime loss at home to Cincinnati. Louisville is led by a pair of sophomores in Monique Reid and Becky Burke. Reid leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game. She also leads the team on the glass, averaging 8.9 rebounds per game. Burke is the second leading scorer on the team with 16.0 points per game and is the Cardinals outside threat knocking down 55 3-pointerson the season.
Connecticut enters the game with a 22-0 overall record and a 9-0 record in BIG EAST play. The Huskies are on a 61 game winning streak, chasing their own record of 70 set during the 2001-03 seasons. The Huskies have three players averaging double figures, led by junior Maya Moore with 18.6 points per game. Senior Tina Charles is second on the team in scoring, averaging 17.4 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 8.9 per game. Senior Kalana Greene rounds out the top scorers, averaging 12.9 points per game.
Connecticut leads the overall series 8-1, winning the last seven against the Cardinals. The game is a rematch of last year's NCAA National Championship where the Cardinals fell 76-54 to the Huskies.
This game is billed as a `Pack the House' game and fans can pick up $2 vouchers at any local Rally's.
