Women's Basketball Hosts Georgetown on Saturday

Louisville, Ky. - The No. 12/12 Louisville women's basketball team will host Georgetown as part of Alumni weekend on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. Following the game fans can watch former Cardinal alumni hit the floor for the first annual alumni game.

The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 18-4 and a 6-2 record in league play. Louisville has won four straight games and six of its last seven games. Leading scorer Shoni Schimmel scored a career-high 38 points to lead the Cardinals to a 78-75 win over USF. Overall, Schimmel leads the team in scoring with 13.7 points while dishing out 3.3 assists. Sara Hammond ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game while leading the team in rebounding with 6.3 per game.

Shoni Schimmel scored 20 points and No. 18 Louisville built a 10-point second-half lead then hung on for 64-61 victory over No. 19 Georgetown on Sunday night. Becky Burke scored 13 points and Antonita Slaughter added 11 for Louisville (16-4, 5-2 Big East), which hit a season-high 11 3-pointers in 25 attempts. Sugar Rogers had 24 points for the Hoyas (15-5, 4-3) while Tia Magee and Rubylee Wright both added 11. Louisville took a 46-44 lead on Schimmel's 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes left.

Georgetown comes into the game on a two game winning streak, the Hoyas held on to defeat Cincinnati 54-52 at McDonough Arena on Tuesday night. Sugar Rodgers led all scorers with 17 points. The Hoyas have two players averaging double figures. Rodgers leads the team with 23.7 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 boards a game. Andrea White ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game. Rodgers also leads the team in assists with 79 on the year.

Former Cardinal alumni will be recognized during the game as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Former alumni expected to hit the KFC Yum! Center floor for the alumni game are:
