Providence, R.I. - The No. 13/15 Louisville women's basketball team will travel to Providence for the first of a two-game road stint on Saturday, Jan. 12. The Cardinals will face the Friars at 2:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I.

The Cardinals will be looking to improve in the BIG EAST standings after starting league play with a 1-1 record. Shoni Schimmel scored a season-high 21 points against Rutgers on Tuesday night. Schimmel led four Cardinals in double figures. Overall, Schimmel leads the team in scoring with 12.4 points while dishing out 3.6 assists. Sara Hammond and Monique Reid rank second on the team in scoring with 11.1 points apiece. Hammond leads the team in rebounding with 7.3 per game.

No. 18 Louisville Tops Providence, 64-48
Freshman Bria Smith scored 12 points and the No. 18 Louisville Cardinals defeated Providence 64-48 Wednesday night.

The Friars enter the game with an overall record of 5-9 and 0-1 in league play. Providence opened BIG EAST Conference play with a 79-64 loss to Georgetown on January 5 in Providence, R.I. Symone Roberts leads the team in scoring (14.7 ppg), assists (4.6 apg) and steals (3.8 spg). Sophomore Tori Rule ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Senior Brianna Edwards rounds out the top scorers, averaging 9.4 points, 1.1 assists and a team-best 8.0 rebounds per game.
