LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's cross country teams return to E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park in Louisville on Saturday, Nov. 12, for the third time this season to compete at the 2011 NCAA Southeast Regional. The men's 10K begins at 10 a.m., and the women's 6K follows at 11:15 a.m.

The top two finishing teams at each of the nine regionals automatically qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind. The remaining 13 teams on each side (men's and women's) will earn at-large bids, which will be selected by the NCAA Division I Track & Field Subcommittee. At-large teams will be considered based on their regional finish as well as their regular-season results. Final selections will be announced the evening of Sunday, Nov. 13.

Schools competing at the race include teams from the states of Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Seven teams are nationally ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's top 30 poll: NC State (men rank No. 14; women rank No. 20), Eastern Kentucky (men rank No. 20), North Carolina (men rank No. 25; women rank No. 25), Louisville (men rank No. 26) and Virginia (women rank No. 21).

The last time the Cardinal men and women competed was on Oct. 29 at the BIG EAST Championships at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park. The men posted a strong third-place finish, with redshirt senior Matt Hughes capturing all-BIG EAST honors for the second-straight year with a third-place showing. Along with Hughes, sophomore Tyler Byrne (18th), redshirt junior Gordon Dooley (22nd) and redshirt senior Matt Bruce (24th) placed in the top 25.

Hughes will be in search for all-region honors (individual top-25 finish) for the second time in his career after earning the accolade at last year's meet, helping guide the men's team to a fifth-place finish in 2010.

On the women's side, junior Ariel Briggs paced the group to an 11th-place finish by completing the 6K course in 60th [55 in scoring]. Freshmen Madie Davidson and Michelle Molodynia rounded out the team's top three scoring runners.

Results can be accessed on the Delta Timing Group website at approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of each race. Complete Results also can be found on following the women's race.
